Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
